By Winston Sibanda
Different people have expressed their opinions with regards to what the future holds for South African women.
Director of Art for Humanity, Jan Jordaan said children’s backgrounds have a huge impact on what they become when they grow up.
He said, “Poverty has a huge impact on the girl child especially in rural areas, but for those girls coming from better backgrounds they perform well in different disciplines. This shows that if given the opportunity, there is a bright future for women in South Africa.”
Some members of the public have recommended the South African constitution and government to empowering women. Professor Nqabomzi Gawe from the Durban University of Technology said when President Jacob Zuma said South Africa was ready for a female president, it gave hope to women out there.
Professor Gawe urged women not to compete with man. She said they should utilize the strength within them.
