A PROUD MOMENT FOR KEVIN DUFFY

It was a proud moment for Kevin Duffy last night, as he walked among academic intellectuals into the Durban University of Technology Conference Centre for his professorial inauguration.
Professor Kevin Duffy was awarded full professorship, by the university in System Sciences. He worked in various projects and made a small but significant contribution to science. He is currently working on an international project of food production and security in Africa, funded by the African Union.
In his inaugural lecture he treated family, friends and colleagues to a professorial address as he explained how he matches mathematical modelling to reality. He expressed great enthusiasm and love for his work as he presented his findings and researches as his lectures were vibrant and exciting. However above all he was overwhelmed with joy and pride.
“I feel great it is nice to celebrate your work with colleagues,” said Duffy.
Vice Chancellor and Principal of DUT Professor Ahmed Bawa highlighted the importance of the inauguration. He explained that it is not only an opportunity for the promoted professor to share his research and findings, but also an opportunity for the university to present its credentials as a centre of higher learning to the society at large. Bawa expressed happiness to have witnessed history in the making as he confirmed that Duffy and he, come from the same hometown.
“I am happy to have witnessed history in the making; we grew up in Grey Town. I am pleased to be here tonight to share the achievements of Kevin,” said Bawa
The event was concluded by Dr Brian Pearce who gave a vote of thanks to the university, and Juddy Reddy who was on the fore front for the organisation of the event. Everyone who attended was then invited to join the newly appointed professor for dinner.
