CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF CHRIST

By Marcelle Naidoo
Every year multitudes of people gather on the streets of Chatsworth on a special Good Friday march.
The annual celebration is hosted by the Christian Revival Centre (CRC) in Chatsworth. During the week, evening services are held to prepare for the Easter weekend festivities. This year the march took place on the 18th of April.
The atmosphere was electric as people of all ages gathered with their respective churches sporting flags and banners to celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Perfect weather conditions contributed to the crowd’s enthusiasm. The march began at the Bayview Shopping Centre and headed to the 3B grounds in Chatsworth.
Along the way, residents cheered in support of the event, some were even kind enough to hand out refreshments to the crowd.
Upon arrival at the grounds participants were greeted by pastors from various churches which were part of the event. Dr. Paul Lutchman, who heads up the event every year, urged all who attended to partake of the sumptuous meal which was provided.
He ended his speech by saying, “Although it poured the entire week, I knew the sun would come out on Good Friday morning.”
Pastor Harry Chinniah of Chatsworth Evangelistic Centre was one of the most enthusiastic participants. “It gives me great joy to see so many people and so many churches here today all celebrating together,” said Chinniah.
The Easter programme continued through to Saturday with a cultural show followed by a special service on Easter Sunday at the 3B grounds.
Next year Dr Paul Lutchman hopes that more people will attend.
