DANCE2FAME COMES BACK BIGGER AND BETTER

By: Chanelle Lutchman
The third instalment of Dance2Fame got underway Saturday, August 31.. The event which is hosted each month gives dance crews a chance to showcase their talent and compete for the title of Best Dance Crew at the end of the day. The first place went to the dynamic trio, Matrix Avatars, who stunned crowds with their impressive moves whilst second place went to Illusion DC, and third place to Demolition Warriors.
Each month a specific theme is given to each event. This month the theme was Cartoons vs Superhero’s. With keeping to the theme in each dance battle, both individuals represented either a superhero or a cartoon character.
By the end of the event, superheroes were victorious. A dancer who goes by the name Simon represented the superhero ‘Spiderman’ in his battle. He said that it was the first time he had attended the D2F event and he was very excited to be a part of the event. Simon said that he heard through friends about the event and decided to contact the organisers and join.
With ABSA being one of D2F’s biggest sponsors, the D2F crew created a catchy song that got the crowd dancing.
This month’s instalment blew the crowd away with an impressive line-up.. The crowd were introduced to ‘Choclate Kid’, a black male dancer who specialises in bharata Natyam (classical Indian dance). He had everyone on their toes whilst performing his own combo of bharata Natyam and krump.
Crowds were also entertained by Ushaka’s mascots who performed a song each that brought back memories for many.
One of the crews, Platoons said that they enjoyed their experience at D2F. They have been together for three months and as a crew, everything they do they do through God.
