DURBAN ENJOYS 3rd ZAKIFO MUSIC FESTIVAL

The City of Durban hosted the third annual Zakifo Music Festival the past weekend at Blue Lagoon.
The festival programme boasting over 30 of the finest international music-makers from various countries including the UK, Jamaica, USA, Belgium, France, Niger, Congo, Tanzania, Zimbabwe and South Africa.
“I come all the way from Cape Town to experience Zakifo Music Festival. I fell in love with this festival, initially when it started,” said Anzeo-Lee.
Zakifo, which was was started by Jerome Galabert, Sipho Sithole and Andy Davis has enjoyed continued partnerships from East Coast Radio, The Department of Arts and Culture, Air Austral, eThekwini Municipality and Durban Tourism.
“With Zakifo Durban our intention is the same. We want to answer the call of the city’s creative voices strengthening ties between the cultural communities of the Indian Ocean, from India to Australia to China and of course Reunion, Madagascar and Mauritius,” said Jarome Galebert, one of the festival founders.
Performances took place on huge stages and attendees also explored a cultural area, food carts and stalls, craft beer bars, local traders and interactive installation art exhibits.
