Africa’s biggest fashion event is kicking off tonight at the Durban International Convention Centre.
The annual Durban Fashion Fair brings together top designers and emerging new talents from across the continent to celebrate the creativity and beauty of fashion. The event will take place from the 25th – 28th of September.
Sindi Shangase, Programme Manager for the Business Support Tourism & Market Unit, said that this year’s theme ‘Evolution is Elementary’ provides plenty of inspiration for the creative at this year’s DFF.
“Whether you are wearing gold silk thread garments or your home has chrome-plated finishes, metals are intrinsically linked to our everyday lives. But metals are more than what we see as the final product. This year’s theme highlight the contribution of metals, and the South African metal mining industry in particular, to the world of fashion both locally and abroad,” said Shangase.
First day of the DFF will see different fashion houses such as the KNS Tailors, Zamaswazi, House of Saint Luke, Tribal Skin, Nguni Shades, Samma Collection and others bringing the theme to life.
Tickets are R100 per person per show. Students R50 per show.
