DUT INTER-RES AUDITIONS A SUCCESS|

It was a night full of laughter and entertainment as Mr. and Miss DUT Inter Resident auditions took place in Mansfield Hall last week.
The Mansfield Hall was packed to capacity, and the contestants were full of energy and excitement. Some of the contestants’ nerves took over, leaving the crowd in tears from laughter as they tripped over the stage. You could tell by the level of noise the crowd made that their favorite had entered whenever he/she took to the ramp.
The large number of people who were auditioning was cut down to the final 24.
Whilst unsuccessful contestants were not happy, for some this was their big moment making it to the last 24. Noluthando Mgobhozi, a finalist, said she was thrilled to be in the top 24.
“This was my first time entering Miss Inter Res. I thought I should because modeling is my hobby and after becoming 2nd Princess in Miss Green earlier this year I was inspired to enter other competitions,” said Mgobhozi.
Nhlakanipho Zuma, one of the MC’s, said he was happy with the turn up of people and how smooth the event went.
“These were just auditions and the attendance was good as we did everything within the time we were allocated. I would love to give the judges some credit. The contestants were confident and with the hard work and dedication for the final show, people will be willing to pay to watch,” said Zuma.
Sifundo Nkosi, Residence life Officer and Outsources Co-ordinator said the event was a success.
“The event went well, and there is still a lot the models have to do. They have rehearsals from Monday onwards and those who can’t walk properly in heels still have a month to learn. I encourage people to attend the main event, which will feature performers,” said Nkosi.
Sandile Ncube who was in the audience, said he is looking forward to the main event that will take place on 22 August.
“The event went well and I cannot wait for the actual Miss and Mr Inter Res because I have a favorite and would like to see her win,” said Ncube.
