FASHION DESIGNERS KEEPING IT LOCAL

Fashion Designers are keeping it local as they showcased their latest trendsand styles working together with the eThekwini Municipality.
Designers all over the country also showcased some of their stunning clothing labels at a fashion suite at Elangeni Hotel -Southern Sun. This was in partnership with the eThekwini Municipality and was said to be the fashion show that will dress some of South Africa’s celebrities.
Simphiwe Tshabalala, the project organiser of the whole fashion suite said, “Basically the whole idea behind today’s fashion suite is to promote young and upcoming fashion designers, showcase the country’s local talent. I take this field as a very strong one and keep it in mind that they need to grow in the business and be able to learn skills and learn to market their labels. We also look forward for tomorrow’s Metro FM awards where we will be dressing people like the Mayor James Nxumalo, AKA, DA- LES.”

The fashion suite was attended by well-known designers including the likes of Gideon.
“I just love working and having to showcase my clothes in Durban,” said Kathrin Kidger. “The vibe and atmosphere… the people and I get inspired by the women walking in town having to see what they like and putting a little trend to it. I have to say I am also inspired by people like David Tlale. I just love his sense and the theme he just brings.“
