Day 1 of the 8th Durban Fashion Fair started on a high note last night at the Durban International Convention Centre.
The show attracts fashion enthusiasts, designers from different places to witness fashion collections on the runway.
Some of the designers that showcased last night were House of Saint Luke, LeMFUX, KNS Tailors and others.
Durban’s very own, Mxolisi Mkhize, from the ‘House of St Luke’ said that he is very pleased with the platform provided by the DFF to the designers.
“DFF is home, and for as long as my brand exists, I will do DFF, It launched us, and made sure our footprint was visible. The theme “Evolution is Elementary” is amazing, I love it. I also had a field day using my collection to interpret it,” said Mkhize.
The DFF also gives a chance to the young and emerging designers who want to make a name in the fashion industry.
Athenkosi Mfungula, the founder of LeMFUX said that as a young local designer, the response to last night’s fashion show was amazing.
“Last night was overwhelming, people really responded well to the collections. I think I really did manage to bring the theme to life because most of my pieces were vintage, but have been cut in a fashion forward way,” said Mfungula.
The DFF continues tonight until the 28th of September.
