Camp chairs, cooler boxes and braai stands filled People’s Park as people flocked in to celebrate Heritage Day with Gagasi FM.
The Gagasi FM team was very impressed with the number of people that turned out and decided to spend the day with them.
“We didn’t know that this event was going to be such a success. We would like to thank the Durbanites for coming out today,” said Sandile Myeni, an event organiser at Gagasi FM.
Before the gates were open people were already lined up waiting to enter the Park. People were allowed to bring their own meat to braai and enjoy with family and friends.
There was a line-up of well known DJ’s to keep the crowd entertained as they celebrated heritage day in a unique way. Gagasi FM DJs T.P and Kent were amongst those who kept the good music pumping and the crowd on their feet.
“I love the new way of enjoying Heritage day and I don’t think there is a better way to enjoy it than with family and friends,” said an excited Angelique Manson.
When Dream Team took the stage later on during the day, everybody got on their feet and sang along as they performed all their hit songs.
“Good food and great music, Heritage Day will never be the same. We celebrating this day in true South African style,” Sipho Mgobhozi said after Dream team’s performance.
Before the event ended the organisers used the twitter platform to market the event by using the #HeritageSwag- people were also asked to do the same.
The people that attended the event were encouraged to take selfies and post them up on their twitter and facebook pages.
It was announced that the best selfie would win a prize the following day on the I Love Mornings with Mzokoloko Breakfast Show.
