Tears were shed at this year’s MTV VJ search auditions at the Olive Convection Centre in Durban.
Some hopefuls arrived at the wee hours on Saturday, some even flew from afar to try their luck at becoming the next MTV presenters.
“I flew this morning at 6am (from Benoni) and I landed at 7h40am. I’ve made it through to the next round, which we waiting for the top 25. It’s so worth it, like it’s so important to go after your dreams it pays out,” said Nolu Mbatha.
It is a stringent process to become what MTV is looking for. The first round leads to the decision room, where some hopfeuls either rejoice or are disappointed at the outcome of their results.
“Unfortunately not everyone can make it through,” explained Chad Fallet.
One contestant had mixed emotions though she made it through from the first round, she sounded not so hopeful at all.
“I don’t want to get too excited because there is still a bit more to do. It was nerve wrecking and honestly what saved me was my music,” said Aphiwe.
Another contestant still in the queue said, “ The nerves are there but they are not that bad. I am just here to give it a good shot. I fell like this is a good opportunity I think I should take,” said Nqobile.
All roads led to Artizen restaurant and lounge in KwaMashu for the after party and the results of the top 25.
