MR AND MISS DUT CROWNED AFTER MUCH CONTEST

The Durban University of Technology crowned its Mr and Miss DUT at the sports center at Steve Biko Campus. Thursday night.
This is one of the biggest events planned and organised by the students representative council (SRC). The show featured participant’s arcoss campuses including Pietermaritzburg. The venue was packed to its full capacity as students came out in fill force to show their support.The event featured different acts from poetry, dance crews, and musicians from different genres of music. Hip hop artist and DUT alumnus, Zakwe, performed some of his hit tracks that saw the audience on their feet. “I am here to bring back the love that was given to me by my fans through my music and I am home,” said Zakwe. Dj Happy Girl’s outcome was no different to Zakwe’s. Students and visitors alike were all on their feet dancing to the rhythms of house music.
Twelve contestants strut their garments on the runway. Funny enough, the male audience screamed their lungs out for female participants as female audience made their feelings known towards male participants..
The first prince and princess was Sandile Mongezi and Nokuphila Dlamini respectively. The second prince was Deyi Zuma accompanied by michelle Sheyi as his second princess. Songezo Mkontwana won the Mr DUT 2013 title and Sibabalwe Ntlukwana was crowned Miss DUT 2013.
“I am very happy, I feel overwhelmed! It has been a long journey and to know that I carry the brand of DUT its overwhelming,” said Sibabalwe with a joyful face. Mr DUT said, “Hardwork really pays off. Last year I was number two and this year I made it to the top. I am over the moon!” The winners worn themselves tablets and a trip to Cape Town in December.
