PRAISE AND TRENDS – A WAY TO UNITE THE YOUTH

Fashion and gospel music became a way to bring back what is identified as the lost generation, meaning the youth.
Whoever said that fashion and gospel were two worlds apart, was wrong. It both became one world as Fashion met Gospel at uMlazi Comtech this Sunday. People came in numbers to enjoy a sold out show that left them screaming for more.
The aim of the event was to attract the youth in the presence of the Lord with Gospel music and also showcase the latest fashion trends. Local groups from around the area shared the stage and lightened up the mood.
The fashion show took the show to another level as Famous Cosmi Black Modelling agency provided the eye candy for the models. It was if the models were born wearing their garments. Young fashion designer, Thokozani Mbatha, got to showcase his clothing line ‘Black Pepper’.
“The theme for today’s show is African Safari and it’s what inspires my creation. Being a Christian doesn’t mean you can’t be stylish this is what we here for. We are here to speak the mirth of fashion and inspire the youth with Gospel and Fashion,” said Mbatha. His fashion show showcased unique true African garments.
As the music was another part of the show, the event organiser and the founding member of the choir called The Presence, Ntokozo Sithole said, “Amazing Grace was formed 6 years ago and this is our second biggest event. We are actually fundraising to release an album. But the main thing is to attract the youth and give them a message via Gospel music.”
He added that the reception has been very good from the community. “We really are grateful,” added Sithole as he was very excited about the outcome of the show. Amazing Grace took the stage and people were oozing for more. Amongst other choir that performed were Amazing Grace, SMS and many others.
“I am really inspired with fashion also at the same time my spirit is uplifted with gospel music thank you Lord,” said Nokuphiwa Mofokeng, one of the audience members
