Magaba Lounge hosted a corporate lunch for women’s day on Sunday at the Mpumalanga Township, Hammarsdale.
Women from Hammarsdale and surroundings got a chance to be treated to a spa which was followed by motivational and empowerment talks by prominent business women from the area.
The motto of the day was “Stop complaining and do something for yourself”.
Nomcebo Langa, owner of Magaba Lounge, said that the aim of the event was to raise awareness of the opportunities out there for women.
“There are lot of opportunities out there and we emphasise independence in women especially since we are living in the 21st century, therefore women need to be hard workers and hustlers,”
She also added that women should change and distance themselves from the norms of the past.
“Women must not live the life that our mothers lived, whereby only the father had to work.
We want to change that mentality,” added Langa.
Nomfundo Mcoyi, guest speaker and owner of Icebolethu Funerals said that such events empower women.
“I think the speeches that we gave today will give women hope because I think they have lost hope.
We also want them to feel special by giving them these massages,” Mcoyi said.
“Women need to realise that you can start anything out of nothing, like I started my business here in Hammarsdale but today it is international,” explained Mcoyi.
Women empowerment talks and workshops will be the focus for these business women since they believe that the main thing that women need is hope.
Mbali Majozi, a guest from Umlazi, said that it is empowering for young women to see that they can explore other avenues in business and life.
