TALENT SHOW KEEPS UMLAZI YOUTH OFF THE STREETS

The Department Of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in partnership with GHOOSO Entertainment, hosted a youth talent show in Umlazi at AA Section community hall yesterday.
The event was an initiative of the founder of the organisation Thembela Mbatha and his other associates and he said the organisation was to promote the youth’s talent.
“The aim of GHOOSO Entertainment is to promote young people through entertainment and to give them support and a place to perform instead of performing in clubs and bars. We are giving them a platform to do that without any bad influences,” said Mbatha.
Young people from all over Umlazi gathered at the community hall to come and show case their talents and have a good time as there were some of Durban’s well-known radio personalities like Zabala of Wits FM and Lindani hlophe of Inanda FM, in attendance.
Although there was a delay when the sound system arrived late, there wasn’t anything that could dampen the spirits of the young people who had gathered to show-case their latent.
The department of agriculture also offered school bursaries to the young people who had gathered there, among other give-aways.
Young people in attendance seemed pleased by the offer and were encouraged to ask questions.
“This is a great opportunity for us- we are given a second shot to change our lives for the better and do something that will better our future,” said Lindo Masuku.
Acts ranging from UMaskandi, Hip Hop, Gospel, Kwaito and House DJs were invited to perform.
“I got a chance to perform my latest songs and the crowd seemed to like them,” said Philane ‘Gawdly Trane’ Ndebele, a young Hip-Hop artist from Umlazi.
