Tendai Mtawarira launches the Beast Foundation

World Cup-winning Springbok player, Tendai Mtawarira (The Beast) has launched his own foundation called the Beast Foundation.
The Beast Foundation aims to assist young people in forging their future by helping them access sports training, skills development, and education opportunities.
“I decided to start the Beast foundation because my life changed through sports and I want to use it to do the same to create Africa’s future leaders, he said.
Mtawarira said that he wants to continue his legacy by giving people the same to thrive on the field and beyond. The Beast foundation will host annual boot camps for both rugby and basketball to provide support for talented children who come from disadvantaged backgrounds by teaching and coaching them with other life skills and education for them to succeed.
“Players can carry their learnings back to their communities, get scouted at national and international levels, become future coaches, and expand in various careers,” he added.
The foundation recognized that one of the obstacles preventing the youth from progressing is not having financial assistance to continue with higher education. To help with that the foundation will partner up with higher education institutes and corporates in order to provide scholarships for education, link beneficiaries to bursary opportunities, and facilitate exchange programs with international institutions.
The Beast foundation has partnered with Henry Business School to offer opportunities to young people and sports players in helping them develop a life after sports. This will be done in the form of research and white papers in relevant subject matter, short courses, events, and seminars.
