THE 19th AFRICAN RENAISSANCE CONCERT LIVES UP TO EXPECTATIONS

The 19th African Renaissance concert took place at Durban International Convention Centre on Saturday night.
The concert played host to some of the best entertainers in South African entertainment from the likes of the songstress Naima Kay, the Super Mega AKA and the young and talented Nasty C.
Phat Joe from East Coast Radio hosted the festival and kept the crowd entertained with his jokes.
“It is my first time attending the African Renaissance Concert, and they have actually summed up everything perfectly, from the two days conference and now the concert,” said Linda Sithole.
AKA who is nominated for three Black Entertainment Television (BET) awards later this year, said that he is soon to wed the love of his life, which by the way left everyone in complete awe because he did not mention who it was.
Nasty C, who is also nominated for a BET, missed out from the South African Music Awards 2017 (SAMA) which were on the same night in order to entertain his hometown fans in Durban.
Against the odds of succumbing to the flu prior to her performance, Naima Kay did not let her fans down. She sang most of her soulful melodies while the crown sang along with her as well.
“I had to come and see Naima Kay myself. We are both from Port Shepstone and I love and support her music,” said Zoleka Nhlumayo.
Thousands of people came to the ICC over the three days and the concert was the cherry on the top.
“I am literally lost for words, I cannot believe the biggest names in South African music dodged the SAMA’s to perform for us Durbanites, I really am glad that I came,” said Sithole.
