Baby bumps, little cries and giggles filled the Durban Exhibition Centre this past weekend between the 16th -18th August, as the Annual MamaMagic Baby Expo took place.
Great Expectations joined MamaMagic this year to bring you the Great Expectations Baby Centre, where a handful of experts and professionals hosted talks, one-on-ones and informative demonstrations to answer all those niggling questions you might have had as parents or soon to be parents. It was a great opportunity to meet with fellow moms, listen to the expert talks and gain a wealth of information to help make your parenting experience that much easier.
MamaMagic gives anyone involved in the parenting and baby industry the perfect platform to engage directly with their target market face-to-face and build personal long lasting relationships with visitors. The Expo does not just provide exhibitors with a stand, but focus on grabbing the attention of their desired audience with a focused yearlong marketing campaign.
One of the exhibitors at the expo, Feed the Babies Fund, attended with only one aim in mind, to raise awareness of malnutrition amongst new-borns and toddlers.
“Feed the Babies Fund is an NGO that provides maize meal porridge to various rural areas across KwaZulu-Natal, mainly for children who suffer from malnutrition and hunger. At the moment we are feeding about 8000 children but we are desperately trying to raise funds to continue feeding them. Our aim of being at the Baby Expo is to raise awareness of the situation surrounding children suffering from hunger and we hope that we will be able to raise funds through the expo,” explained Ashvina Radakissoon, a fund-raiser for the trust.
Visitors to the expo were quite excited and overwhelmed with the unlimited amount of exhibitors on hand with everything a new mother could possibly need all in one place.
Vuyiswa Mbatha, a first time mom and visitor to the expo felt that the experience was very enlightening. “I thoroughly enjoyed the day learning about so many different things for new moms and new-borns. At first it was very overwhelming as there was so much to look at and take in but I’m really glad that I could experience it. This has exceeded my expectations of what a baby expo is,” she said enthusiastically.
The weekend progressed with fun activities set up for mothers and babies to enjoy some quality fun time together.
