The Financial Education For Women In Business Breakfast was held at the Golden Horse casino. The event was hosted by the MEC of the Department of Treasury KwaZulu- Natal, Ina Cronje, in partnership with ABSA.
The breakfast started off on a high national standard where the Imbokodo sang the National Anthem that filled the room with sweet voices.
Amongst the guests were Mayor of Umsunduzi Municipality, Cllr Chris Ndlela, Miss Stephine van Rensburg who is the ABSA branch manager who helped sponsor the breakfast.
“Being amongst the roses today is truly a blessing,” said Ndlela with a smile.
KwaZulu-Natal is known for a lot of things but never has it been given a chance of being the host city for the financial education breakfast.
“Thanks to the MEC for allowing Pietermaritzburg to be the host of the financial breakfast,” continued Ndlela.
The aim of the event was to bring an educational platform to all the women who are in the cooperative world. MEC Cronje is set to inculcate the usage of money within these groups and build a platform that will allow these groups to grow stably.
Ndlela stated that sexism still plays a big role in women not being able to make it in the co-operate world because people still believe women should be married and at home.
The development of this programme is another way in which the government wants to end sexism and create a non-sexist environment.

In order to be successful women were advised to make decisions that will change them and never to see other women as their competition but partner within the co- operate world.
