The streets of Durban came alive with thousands of runners for the Totalsports
Women’s Race painting the city pink with their t-shirt colour on Sunday.
The Totalsports Women’s Race is held in celebration of National Women’s Day commemorated on August 9. It also supports the Pink Drive, a Public Benefit
Organisation (PBO) that is committed to improving breast cancer awareness and education.
Jane ThomasEast Coast Radio DJ Jane Thomas said that she loved taking part in the race.
“I love cheering for the women and showing support to them. These people have so many titles to live up for such as mom, wife, working mom, sister and daughter,” she said.
Additional fun activities took place and included Totalsports rainbow mile, Puma party mile and the race included 5km and 10km routes. Nomfundo Mlaba, who was a
participant, said that she adores such events because they help her exercise.
“It’s not everyday I get to wake up and run with the life I have. I normally don’t get the time to exercise so such events help me to stimulate my brain and body which is
why I like entering them,” said Mlaba.
