Albert Park FC booked their sport in the last 8 of the Durban Central Tournament after hammering Hanover Rangers 4-0 win at Brickfield Ground on Sunday.
The Durban Central Tournament consist of 32 teams that play in the SAB Durban regional league and also teams around Durban.
Hanover Rangers were the first to test the opposition goalkeeper when striker Ayanda Masinamela’s shot forced the keeper to make a save.
Albert Park responded with a cracker of a goal when Themba Zulu scored from the long range. In the 35th minutes, Zulu secured his brace when he headed from the corner to make it 2-0.
The shaky defence of Hanover Rangers saw them conceding a careless goal in the 65th minutes when Sakhile “khustar” Mngomezulu netted a beauty.
Khustar capitalised from the goalkeeper’s error and increased the lead in the 70th minutes and sealed the win for Albert Park.
Albert Park skipper, Zulu said he is very much pleased with the win. “I am very happy and we played well as the team and we teach them football but I think it wasn’t a hard match just that we were a batter opponent,” said Zulu.
The winning coach Bheka Sando believe that the team has to work harder than before to match up their upcoming opponent.
“We played very well, I cannot complain. Our opponents were not so easy just that we came prepared for this match because we want to win the tournament,” said Sando.
Albert Park’s next encounter is against the defending Champions, Golden Arrows Development at Lamontville on 25 July 2015.
