Kaizer Chiefs are in a brink of a double for the first time in eight years. Amakhosi will play Supersport United on two occasions; first being an Absa Premiership clash tonight at the Peter Mokaba Stadium at 19:30 which will be a curtain raiser for the cup final.
The two outfits will then meet for the Nedbank Cup final on the 25th which is to take place at the Moses Mabhida Stadium at 15:00.If the Glamour Boys continue in the form in which they have shown this season, then the team can start dreaming of a double this season. Amakhosi head coach, Stuart Baxter, said that is exactly what the players should be dreaming and aiming for.
“If you have professional players and they are not looking for a cup and a league double with this opportunity we have, then they shouldn’t be playing at this level. I’m hoping that everybody is looking for that. Does that mean that will happen? No, it doesn’t. It means we have ambition and passion,” says Baxter.
Supersport United, who are defending champions booked their place through a Sbusiso Zuma extra time penalty to seal a victory over an on-form Platinum Stars. The Matsatsantsa head coach, Gavin hunt says the three time PSL champions will be up against it when they face the Soweto giants on both encounters.
“It’s going to be a hell of a final. We’ll be huge underdogs there but on the field of play, we ran Chiefs close this year in the gamewe lost to them in the premiership. They’re a good side but we’ll worry about we’ll worry about that when we get there,” said Hunt who is set to leave the Pretoria outfit at the end of the season.
