Amazulu have entered into a three-year deal with Kappa South Africa, the club said in a statement on Monday.
The KwaZulu-Natal based club said that Kappa SA will be their technical sponsors effectively from the start of the 2013/14 Absa Premiership.
“We’re pleased to announce that we’ve signed a three-year deal with Kappa which will be effective as of next season,” said Amazulu Marketing Manager, Lunga Sokhela. “The sponsorship and the new AmaZulu playing kit will be launched officially by the start of the new season.”
Meanwhile the club has placed eight players on the transfer list to “enable the technical team space for reinforcements” in the squad ahead of an upcoming season.
Goalkeeper Mbongeni Mzimela has been granted his wish of seeking a club of his choice due to lack of game time. Defenders Phumlani Mhamha, Luyanda Hlongwa and midfielders Stanley Kgatla and Nyiko Tshabangu have also been placed on transfer.
The club’s General Manager, Peter O’Connor, said that youthful midfielders Andile Khumalo, Nkanyiso Cele and Dumisani Zwane will be sought loan deals to enable them more game time elsewhere.
“We had a serious chat with the directors and with the technical team, and clearly we’ve had to take some radical changes to plan ahead.
“It’s one of those unfortunate things for some of the players but we believe these changes are necessary and we’d like to wish the players well,” O’Connor said.
Other players leaving the Usuthu kraal, whose contracts will not be renewed at the end of June, are midfield-cum defender Tsweu Mokoro and midfielders Ramson Zhuwawo, Kagiso Senamela, Joseph Malongoane and Bongani Mbele.
The contracts of veteran strikers Sifiso Vilakazi and Makhosonke Bhengu have been terminated with immediate effect.
Usuthu also confirmed the signing of Aubrey Mathibe as a back-up goalkeeper for next season.
