AmaZulu FC star midfielder, Goodman ‘Deco’ Dlamini said that the club took a gamble on him while he was still playing in then Vodacom League hence he decided
Dlamini was a ‘wanted man’ after his team was relegated to National First Division in the previous campaign. Maritzburg United and Platinum Stars were amongst the
teams that were eager for Deco’s signature.
Dlamini stressed the importance of loyalty, respect, and dedication as he chose to go down with Usuthu despite some fans complaining that his talent will be wasted in
“There is a lot that the club has done for me, I wouldn’t be what I am today if they didn’t give me this lifetime opportunity. They gave me a chance to play topflight
football when no team was interested in acquiring my services.
They bought me a house. My family is happy I can provide for them.”
It will not be fair to leave the team when they most need me in the NFD so I decided to stay and focus on helping the team to regain the PSL status,” said Dlamini.
The 30-year-old joined Usuthu in 2010 and has since become a key member of the Durban based-side. Deco plays a huge role at the heart of midfield, which attracted
interests from rivals.
The Claremont-born player is one of the few senior players who remained with the club.
He is aware of the difficulties of playing in NFD and has promised to play his heart out to help the club back to the PSL.
“The team is still happy to have me and I told the management that I want to stay with the club, take them back to PSL and then we can discuss the future,” Dlamini added.
