AMAZULU SET TO BOLSTER THEIR SQUAD

AmaZulu have vowed to fortify their squad for next season.
After capturing Sadate Ouro-Akoriko from Free State Stars, the Durban based club has promised their supporters that they will be very busy bringing in new faces.
This week AmaZulu Public Relation Officer, Philani Mabaso told Iziko Sports that Usuthu will have a very busy transfer period as they are preparing for the next campaign.
“Like any other club we will try by all means to buy quality players to make sure that next season we achieve our objectives. As we have begun by signing Akoriko, we will continue to bring in new players to make sure we retain the dignity the club has,” said Mabaso.
“Finishing out of top 8 was very disappointing but we hope new players will make the difference,” he added.
Mabaso continued by revealing that their main aim this season was to finish in the top eight.
Craig Rosslee’s boys start the previous season brightly. At some point, they were the 4th on the log and hoped that their goal to finish inside the top eight will be accomplished but as time went on, those ambitions faded away.
When asked about the name of the players who will arrive at the club, Mabaso did not want to divulge the names of those players but only said that they are quality players.
Mabaso added that the signing of Ouro-Akoriko was just the beginning.
The Togolese defender joins AmaZulu partially as the replacement of the outgoing Thamsanqa Teyise who will join Supersport United after signing a pre-contract with them.
Akoriko will meet up with his new teammates on the 22nd of June when the team reports back from the off-season break.
Usuthu eventually finished 9th on the log with 42 points, after they were beaten by Kaizer Chiefs in the last game of the season. Had AmaZulu won their last match against Amakhosi, their dream to compete in the next season’s MTN 8 would have became a reality.
