BAFANA LEGENDS SHARE THEIR WC EXPECTATIONS

With just a day before FIFA World Cup in Brazil, three former Bafana Bafana players have shared their expectations with Journalismiziko Sport.
Former Bafana captain Lucas Radebe believes Brazil will become champions for a record sixth time.
“Brazil will win it, no doubt, especially because they will be playing in front of their home fans. I think Neymar will be their key man and he will live up to expectations,” Radebe said.
“Only Argentina, I think, can give the hosts problem because they have quality as well and their fans will be there in numbers too,” he said.
Former Bafana striker John “Shoes” Moshoeu, however, believes Argentina will crumble under the World Cup pressure.
“I am not sure (who will win), but surely Argentina will not win it. Look, they have been underperforming in the past years. I believe that their magic retired with Diego Maradona. And Lionel Messi for me…has proved that he not a big stage king of a player,” Moshoeu said.
“England will only go to the second round after that they will get eliminated as usual. Belgium, and especially Eden Hazard, will surprise a lot of people. I reckon that they will do well, but it will be very hard for them to win it,” Moshoeu added.
Mark Fish believes this World Cup will be one of the closest ever.
“This one is one of the most open World Cups ever. I love the World Cup because there are always surprises. But I do assume that all the big guns will perform as usual on the big stage,” said Fish.
The former Orlando Pirates defender believes defending champions Spain has a good chance of being the first team to win back-to-back World Cups.
“I tip Spain to win as I love their style of football. Spanish football is on a high. Sergio Ramos will win it for the Champions.”
