Mamelodi Sundowns have officially secured the services of the former Ajax Cape Town midfielder, Khama Billiat, in a five year contract after the agreement on personal terms.
The 23-year-old midfielder arrived at Ajax in 2010 from CAPS United in his homeland, made 81 starts and scored 25 goals for the club in all competitions.
The Chloorkop-based side ended all the rumour about the Zimbabwean international in joining the Soweto giants Orlando Pirates on Monday morning.
The deal involves striker Eleazar Rodgers who will join Ajax on a one year loan.
The Brazilians were able to make the breakthrough in the negotiations as the Ajax officials have confirmed the news.
The Urban warriors’ Director, Ari Efstathiou confirmed the deal.
“Ajax Cape Town and Mamelodi Sundowns re-engaged and agreed to re-instate the terms of the agreement between the parties involved,” said Efstathiou on IOL in an article published on Monday.
Sundowns spokesman, Kabelo Mosito is delighted that the player is joining the club.
“It is great to have a player of the calibre of Billiat on board, and clearly competition for a starting berth will be massive. This can only lead to a competitive spirit that is so critical in any team,” said Mosito on the club’s website on Monday.
Billiat is joining the club after they signed a Zambian international, Mukuka Mulenga, over the weekend on a three-year deal from Power Dynamos.
