Springboks coach Heyneke Meyer will release four players from the squad to join their sides in the Absa Currie Cup clashes in the upcoming weekend.
The Boks are coming from a difficult 29-15 defeat against New Zealand on Saturday morning which gave the All Blacks a clear lead in the Castle Rugby Championship log table after four games.
Meyer will release Franco van der Merwe of MTN Golden Lions, Marcell Coetzee of The Sharks, Juan de Jongh of the DHL Western Province and Bjorn Basson of the Vodacom Blue Bulls.
The Vodacom Blue Bulls scrum half, Fourie du Preez, will be back in the Springbok squad for the last two home matches of the championship against Australia at the DHL Newlands stadium, Cape Town in September 28 and in October 05 as they will host New Zealand at Ellis Park Stadium, Johannesburg.
Meyer knows the challenge they are facing in the upcoming games, as they want to win the trophy. “We have two crucial matches ahead and we will have to work very hard if we are to keep alive our chances of winning the Rugby Championship,” Meyer told Supersport website.
The remaining members of the squad will meet in Cape Town on Friday, where the injury situation will be assessed. A final announcement on any possible changes to the squad will be made by Sunday before they start training on Monday.
