Reigning Nedbank Cup champions Kaizer Chiefs are in pole position to defend their title after defeating SuperSport United in the quarterfinals at the FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The game took to be heading to extra time as 90 minutes ticked over, but George Lebese fired home two quick late goals to seal Chiefs’ progress. Amakhosi dominated possession, but needed the late goals to get through to the semi-finals.
Siboniso Gaxa crossed a ball that met Lebese who struck a lightning fast shot in from close range. Lebese completed his brace after four minutes of stoppage time when he made a late run into the box and connected to a square ball from Siphiwe Tshabalala.
Orlando Pirates booked their ticket to the semi-finals after edging out Mamelodi Sundowns in Pretoria. Oupa Manyisa’s early goal from the penalty spot gave Pirates a perfect start in the encounter.
The Brazilians leveled matters in the 24th minute after Elias Pelembe fired a shot past Bucs’ goalie Senzo Meyiwa. Daine Klate converted from a free kick, which was misjudged by a goalkeeper who failed to commit as the free kick flew over every player and landed at the back of the net.

Both sides failed to find a winner in regular time and the match went to extra time. Mandaza showed his class as he found the target twice in the first half of the extra-time to seal the win for United.
Bidvest Wits completed the semi-final line up as they beat Bloemfontein Celtic 2-1.
Wits had an advantage after Alfred Ndengane got a red card after he was found to have unfairly fouled Sibusiso Vilakazi. Musa Nyatama scored a first goal of the match in the 24th minute after he got a ball from Wandisile Letlabika.
Celtic led for less than a minute as Clever Boys scored an equalizer a minute later, courtesy of Vilakazi. Wits were awarded a free kick after Ndengane committed a foul and Jabulani Shongwe scored from that free kick in the 40th minute to.
