Chiefs beat AmaZulu, to go on top

Kaizer Chiefs got better of AmaZulu as they cruised 2-0 at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi, Durban and booked themselves a top spot on the Absa Premiership 2019/20 log standings on Tuesday afternoon.
Kaizer Chiefs were boosted with their goalkeeper’s presence Itumeleng Khune for the first time this season, after fracturing his shoulder last season.
Chiefs started the game on a high note, as they almost scored only in four minute after Lebogang Manyama fired his shot over the cross bar. The first half ended in a stalemate but the second half was end to end stuff as both teams looked for their opening goal. Chiefs almost found the back of the net but Siyabonga Mbatha made a great save from Khama Billiat’s shot after AmaZulu defensive error.
Amakhosi finally broke the deadlock after Lebogang Manyama’s free kick hit the bar and it was a rebound which Leonardo Castro converted it nicely with the knee on the 83rd minutes.
AmaZulu lost control of the game and chiefs used that to their advantage as Billiat scored his first goal of the season by his bottom corner chip after Kearyn Baccus set him up on the added time. The result meant AmaZulu are still winless in the opening six games and they remain in the bottom of the Absa premiership standings.
