Kaizer Chiefs shot-stopper Itumeleng Khune has promised the Amakhosi faithfuls positive results in tonight’s match against Baroka FC and believes that their current squad is capable of winning silverwares this season.
The Glamour Boys held a press conference on Tuesday afternoon in Moses Mabhida stadium ahead of their clash that kicks off this evening against the Bakgaga. Amakhosi head Coach, Steve Khompela, Itumeleng Khune and striker Michelle Katsvairo were the representatives on the day.
Khune, who has been in sublime form for Amakhosi this lately said the fact that they have a good record in Durban is a motivational boost for them.
“Every time I drive past ABSA stadium, every time when I am in Durban I get goose bumps because this is the place where I made my debut for Kaizer Chiefs, this is the place I won my first MTN8 title. I have quite a good history in Durban, I want it to continue. I want to leave this place after the game with good memories once again,” said the Bafana Bafana first choice goalkeeper.
He added that he don’t doubt the quality of their current squad and believes that the mood in the camp tells that they are hungry for silverwares.
“Every team that I have played with since 2004 it has always had quality in it. And there’s no difference with our current squad. We have a very young team with ambitious players. We have guys that are eager to succeed in life, and myself as a Captain I have the responsibility to lead by examples. And we are positive that we will win trophies this season,” concluded the Amakhosi Captain.
Chiefs have managed to collect 14 points from seven matches, six points ahead of Baroka F.C who drew their last match 2-2 against their Polokwane rivals, Polokwane City.
