Chiefs lose out on Muntari
Gauteng giants Kaizer Chiefs are set to lose out on former UEFA champion’s league winner, Sulley Muntari because of their recent transfer ban.
Back in February, FIFA imposed a transfer ban on the Soweto based franchise and said the club is not to sign any players for the next two windows. This comes after the club was found to have been guilty of handling the transfer of Andriamirado ‘Dax’ Andrianarimanana in an illegal manner.
Muntari, who has been a consistent representative in the Ghanian National team recently revealed his desire to play for Chiefs if he were to make the switch from Spain to South Africa. But this seems unlikely now as his agent, Sipho Shaven confirmed while speaking to Kickoff.com
“There were discussions about many PSL teams but Kaizer Chiefs has never been part of the plan to bring him here because of the transfer ban they are currently faced with,” said Shaven.
He went on to disclose that they are in discussions with a team from Gauteng and also one that is based in KZN. Unfortunately, the names of the clubs cannot be revealed at this point.
Muntari, a Serie A winner with Inter Milan, who now plies his trade with Deportiva Le Coruna in the Spanish second division, also expressed his excitement of being a part of one of the best leagues on the continent and insisted it isn’t a financial move.
“It’s not about money but his desire to play in the PSL,” Shaven added.
