Chiefs lose their last chance to win ABSA premier soccer league
Kaizer Chiefs have had a long five-season drought with zero trophies and were unable to break this bad run in their final match of the ABSA premier soccer league this past weekend.
AmaKhosi missed their last chance to win the ABSA trophy as it won’t be the main sponsors for the South African premier league in the season 2020/21.
Chiefs were on top of the log for more than a year but lost their cool in the final hour, and dropped 13 points.
Baroka denying Chiefs a win and sharing the points from the match meant they avoided relegation.
The game was in Bidvest stadium, it ended in a 1-1 draw.
Khama Billiat scored the first goal for Chiefs in the 39th minute.
Mozambican, Manuel Kambala got an equalizer for Baroka in the 53rd minute after receiving a cross from Gerald Phiri Jr. and headed it past Itumeleng Khune.
Chiefs conceded 10 goals in the bio bubble since the return of the league. The coach of Baroka was interviewed by SuperSport and was looking forward to staying in the PSL.
Dylan Kerr said, “Summing up the season. Long. One, we’ve got to learn lessons we’ve failed at. We’ve got to improve the squad in a way to make it better. Improve everybody’s attitude in the club.”
Adding on that everything is a struggle and it takes time to build, as his final words for the season of 2019/20.
