CHIEFS NOT KEEN ON DOLLY

Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs have brushed off interest in Ajax Cape Town starlet Keegan Dolly.
The 21-year-old midfielder attracted interest from the big guns after a marvelous season with the Urban Warriors. Dolly walked away with the Absa Premiership Young Player of the Season award at the PSL awards earlier this month.
The youngster was reported to be a target for the “Big 3” local clubs, Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates. But the Amakhosi have denied any interest in Dolly, saying they have not started talking about buying players at this point.
Dolly was outstanding in the middle of the park for the Cape Town-based outfit which attracted him interest from clubs at local level and international level.
Chiefs spokesman Vina Maphosa told Journalismiziko Sport that they have not talked to anyone yet, but in the near future they will start focusing on signing players.
“At Kaizer Chiefs we have not talked to anyone and we have not discussed the issue of signing players, those are just rumours,” said Maphosa this week.
The Johannesburg-born midfielder, according to goal.com, said if an overseas move fails he would definitely choose the Glamour Boys over his childhood club Sundowns because they are “more professional”.
Other big teams have looked eager to bolster their squads for the next PSL campaign with Chiefs’ rivals Bucs having just clinched the signature of Platinum Stars’ Senegalese midfielder Issa Sarr, and Sundowns set to bring back their players who were on loan to other clubs.
Chiefs insist they are not worried about other clubs but they are focusing on starting the new campaign on a high and finish it on a high to reclaim their trophies and make their supporters happy again.
“After failing to defend both of our trophies we know the fans are expecting some new names in the club to invigorate the team. From 16 June onwards that’s when we will start to discuss the transfer of players but for now we have not approached anyone,” Maphosa added.
“The transfer window will be open and I think that will be the right time to start talking about these things.”
