CHIEFS SIGN UGANDAN DEFENDER

Premier Soccer League Champions, Kaizer Chiefs, have confirmed the new signing of a 22-year-old Ugandan defender, Ivan Bukenya, on Monday.
After training with the club for more than two weeks and playing hard during the practising matches, finally he managed to impress coach Stuart Baxter.
In the statement released by the team on Monday, the player has been handed with a two year contract and he was even given an option to renew it if he agrees when that time comes.
Bukenya was playing in Iraq for Erbil SC, and his potential was recognised he then went successfully through the junior national team ranks in Uganda. Currently, he is in the national team squad.
The player has shown much gratitude about his two year stay in Naturena, and he hope that he will help the team in defending their title. “I received the warm welcome from the players and everyone at the village. The captain (Itumeleng Khune) is forever happy and has been supportive,” Bukenya said.
He added that this warmth welcome has boosted his confidence, and he has made it clear for other defenders that his not here to take someones position but as a team they have to work together.
“There is a spirit of love and peace in the team, and I’m looking forward to a great time here. As defenders we really have to work hard for the team.”
Amakhosi as they are on a mission to let “The Glory Continues” in reclaiming their title, they are very happy about this deal. On behalf of Chiefs technical staff, team manager Bobby Motaung is expecting more from this quality defender.
“We would like to welcome Ivan to the team. He is a quality player and has both defensive and midfield qualities. He is a professional, age is on his side as well and we are hoping for longer relations. The coach has worked with him and he is happy with what he saw,”
