Cases continue to plunge in the Premier Soccer League (PSL), as seven more players test positive for the coronavirus in four PSL clubs. This comes after the PSL was given the go-ahead by the government on the 24th of June to resume the 2019/2020 season.
One Orlando Pirates player who was the first one to be infected with Covid-19 has made a full recovery.
Two unnamed Kaizer Chiefs players have tested positive, one Bloemfontein Celtic player who is currently in quarantine and three staff members of the Stellenbosch FC who are non-playing members.
Kaizer Chiefs mentioned in a statement that the affected duo will be in self-isolation for the stipulated period of 14 days. They will be retested after the isolation period and if their tests come back negative, they will be able to re-join the squad.
According to Times Live, the Stellenbosch FC officials said that they are assisting the staff members to recover as safely and speedily as possible and mitigate the risk exposure to other employees.
