Deans’ Cup unites DUT students
Through different sport codes, the Durban University of Technology brought together both Durban and Pietermaritzburg campuses to participate in the annual Dean’s Cup on Saturday.
This tournament saw all DUT’s Midlands campuses playing against Durban campuses. The cup includes different sport codes such as Aerobics, Basketball, Chess, Netball, Football, Volleyball, and E-sports.
This year’s tournament has shown a huge growth with the participation of DUT staff and students. However, due to the bad weather, Cricket games were rescheduled for this coming Saturday.
Thulile Duma, from the office of the Dean said that, the aim of the tournament is to show that they are very directed to students and taking care of students.
“As the office of the Dean, we realised that it is important to maintain health and unify all DUT campuses. The student and staff turnout was very good, this shows that this tournament is growing and we are hoping to come with a way better one in 2020,” she said.
DUT campuses which are: Steve Biko, ML Sultan, City campus, Brickfield and Ritson campus won 8 games, while Midlands campuses managed to only win two games.
