DOWNS BROUGHT BACK TITLE HOPES

Mamelodi Sundowns kept the Absa Premiership title dreams alive after a 2-0 win against AmaZulu at the Princess Magogo Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
A surprise header by Surprise Moriri from the corner kick played into the box through Elias Pelembe’s leg gave Downs a lead in the first half. Teko Modise finished off a lone ball through his head from a cross in the left wing by Anthony Laffor in the 15 minute of the game.
Downs have failed to claim a victory in their last two fixtures, conceding four goals which kept them out of the title race as they were ninepoints behind the log leaders Kaizer Chiefs before the clash.
Sundowns coach, Pitso Mosimane believes that the club played well all although they are not target the league title.
“We don’t play to be worried about that (league title) because we worry of what we can’t control,” said Mosimane after the match.
Mosimane gave credit to his men although the game was difficult for them especially in the first half as the home side was trying to break the deadlock first.
“We played a good game. We played a strong game. Amazulu pressed us from the first minutes”.
Mosimane believes that the changes he made from the side that was beaten 3-1 by Bidvest Wits in their last league encounter worked for the side.
“I brought lot of experience and lot of changes. Surprise (Moriri) gave us experience that we need,” he added.
Meanwhile AmaZulu coach Graig Rosslee believes they were in control of the game although they lose to an experience Downs team.
“We dominated the game especially in the second half. We played against a quality side,” said Usuthu coach.

Although AmaZulu have failed to find the back of the net in their last three league encounter but Roslee believes that they are playing well.
“We don’t have enough fight power in order for us in front to turn the game in our favour,” added Rosslee.
In the other PSL clashes, goals from Jabulani Shongwe, Papy Faty and Sthembiso Ngcobo gave Bidvest Wits a well need win against Polokwane City which was helped by Vukile Mngqibisa to find a goal for the side to make the score 3-1.
Meanwhile, Moroka Swallows played a 1-1 draw against Bloemfontein Celtic.
