The Durban University of Technology hockey teams went for glory this past weekend as they played their final two games before heading to the University Games.
Both the men and women’s teams had a smashing weekend ahead of ther University Sport South Africa (USSA) preparation.
The women’s team played against Munies in Durban North. The afternoon sun proved to be a challenge for both teams, nonetheless DUT came up with the win crashing their competitors 8-1 with a stellar performance.
Satchi Reddy said that he was proud of his team’s performance in general throughout this season.
“With eight days to go before USSA my expectation for the ladies team is to win their section games and win C section as a whole. We have a team of talented players that I believe can take DUT to the next level,” said Reddy.
The men’s team also showed off some team spirit as they won their game. They played against Crusaders 4 on Sunday winning their match 6-2, also crushing their competitors and showing good team dynamic.
The men’s team coach, Harold Siyaya, felt that it was a good game but also fekt that it could have been more clinical even with the win.
The men’s team has had a good league season so far winning most of their games and staying positive about the coming tournament.
“The obvious goals are league and USSA promotions, but I’m happy that we have ticked all the boxes in terms of performances and results. We doing our final preparation for USSA this week, so we can live up to our favourite tag when the ball gets rolling,” Siyaya added.
Both teams will be departing on the 27th July to try and win this year’s C section at USSA games.
