DUT SOCCER TEAM WIPED WESTVILLE

It rained goals at Alpine Sports Ground as the Durban University of Technology (DUT) soccer team beat University of Kwa-Zulu Natal (UKZN) Westville College 8-0 on Saturday
After being hammered by UKZN Scottville away, DUT had to win against Westville in order to keep their hopes alive for the University Sport South Africa Championships in Free State.
The home team showed no fear for the opponent as it took them just 10 minutes to take a lead with a goal from Mthokozisi “Mageba” Zulu.
Few minutes after Khetha “Ndoro” Ndlovu increased the lead after the Westville defensive error, 2-0. Just before half time, a long throw in by Sfiso Nxumalo find the header of Vusi
Nxasane who made no mistake and find the back of the net.
In the second half, it looked like the away team was going to come back in the game but a goal from DUT skipper Sabelo Duma, ended that momentum. Mageba skinned Westville
defence and find Ndoro awaits in the box who scored on an empty net.
In the 70th minutes, Ndoro grabbed his hat-trick after a great cross wiped in by Nxumalo.
Mageba gave the away team defence a hard time as he was twisting and turning them in all side on the pitch.
Nxumalo was showed a yellow card in the 75th minutes after a rough tackling Westville striker.
Duma grabbed his brace and made it 7-0 in the 80 minutes as he converted a great pass from Mageba.
The win put DUT on the second spot on the log with just two points away from the log leaders Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT).
Westville captain Sandile “Maradona” Shabalala said that there were just too many errors from his team.
“It could have been worse than just 7-0 and the referee final whistle was a relief to us because DUT gave us no chance to play and our errors cost us a lot,” said Maradona.
DUT’s next encounter is against MUT at MUT Sport Ground on Saturday 12 September 2015.
