Durban University of Technology football team are keeping hopes of qualifying alive for the University Sport South African Championships that will be held later this year in the Free State Province.
DUT are currently sitting in top position in the KwaZulu-Natal stream, with the University of KwaZulu-Natal (PMB) in second place. DUT are yet to lose a game after five matches, with one draw and four big wins.
Nhlanhla Mshibe, Head Coach of the DUT side is really pleased with the team’s performance in the previous games.
“I must say our hopes are high in terms of qualifying and my boys are showing on the field that they want to qualify,” said Mshibe.
In 2014, the University Sport South African Championships were held in Durban, with DUT as the hosts.
Under Mshibe’s hand , DUT were able to finish second on the log.
“Last year wasn’t the greatest showing for us as some of my boys lacked experience. This year we want to make a name for ourselves but it all starts with playing well in the remaining league games,” concluded Mshibe.
As hosts in 2014, DUT were knocked out of the group stages in the USSA Championship and didn’t win a single match. DUT last week beat the defending KZN league champions by a convincing 4-1 margin at home.
DUT will be looking to remain in first place when they battle the University Of KwaZulu-Natal at Curries Fountain on the 20th of May 2015, kick off at 20h00.
