Kaizer Chiefs has appointed Gavin Hunt as their new head coach for the upcoming three seasons.
This comes after Kaizer Chiefs fired Ernst Middendorp as the club’s coach after failing to secure the ABSA premier league. In a statement issued by Kaizer Chiefs, Hunt is expected to start his job immediately.
The chairman of the club, Kaizer Motaung said he is positive about Hunt and his experience brings advantage to the team.
“He brings with him an abundance of experience, having coached about five teams in the premiership. There is success wherever he has coached,” said Motaung.
Hunt spent almost his entire playing career with Hellenic. He started his coaching career after suffering a permanent injury.
Hunt’s greatest success came at Supersport United, where he won three consecutive PSL championships from 2008 to 2010.
Kaizer Chiefs fans are buzzing with joy, some are already claiming that the next season will be interesting for Amakhosi. Gugu Cele who is one of the biggest fans of Amakhosi said that given his record, Gavin Hunt is the right man for the job.
“I have confidence in Hunt because he is experienced and for the past five years we had to deal with coaches that had a bad record compared to Hunt and his track record of trophies speaks for himself,” she said.
