Lamontville Golden Arrows coach, Serame Letsoaka, has denied recent speculation linking his side with out of favour former Supersport United midfielder, Bennett Chenene.
Letsoaka was speaking after his side 2-1 triumph over Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday at Chartsworth Stadium.
Chenene has reportedly been contacted by Arrows, following his contract termination with Supersport United. However, Letsoaka downplayed the rumours as he claims to be unaware
of Chenene even being let go by United.
“I haven’t had a look at Chenene to be honest. It’s news to me that he’s been released by Supersport,” said Letsoaka.
The Abafana Bes’thende coach insists that the club’s instruction is to look at the Diski team if there is a need to bolster their squad.
Letsoaka said, “One of the mandates from Golden Arrows, is for us to look at the Diski team and source our players from there. We have seen how good the team is at that level, and only
two or three of those players are on loan.
If we believe one of those players are worth breaking the bank for, so we can have him as our own, then it will be done.”
The former Orlando Pirates player spent half of the previous campaign on loan at University of pretoria to seek for game time. The injuries added to his woes and ended up going back to
United only to get the boot.
“Chenene is a winger, and we have many players for that position within our team. As a free agent, he will command a high salary, so I cannot just bring someone in like that,” added
The coach is adamant that the most important thing for now is building the core of his team, as the club has targets which they hoping to achieve come the end of season.
