MABHIDA IS OUR SLAUGHTER HOUSE – MASHABA

By: Lucky Khanyile
Bafana Bafana Coach, Shakes Mashaba, has issued a stern message to both Mauritania and Cameroon after his sides’ 1-0 triumph over Angola at the Moses
Mabhida Stadium on Tuesday.
Mashaba was addressing the media after his side edged Palancas 4-1 on aggregate in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers. The overwhelmed Mashaba warned Mauritania and
Cameroon, as they will be facing them in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
“There is nothing impossible. I always say it seems impossible until it is done.
There is nothing stopping us from beating Cameroon twice, nothing can beat us to reverse the Mauritania result.
Anything is possible. However it’s not going to be easy, but with the kind of player’s approach and commitment, I think we are on the verge of turning the tables around,” said Mashaba.
“We will be coming back to Durban; Mauritania will pay dearly for what they did to us. Moses Mabhida is becoming our slaughterhouse and I think we will also come
here for the Cameroon game,” Mashaba added.
He also lamented on the lack of players’ availability in the friendlies, as they don’t fall under the Fifa calendar. Mashaba believes that it is high time Bafana Bafana
qualifies for the world cup, which they last achieved in 2002.
Mashaba has qualified for the 2000 Olympics with the under 23’s, the 2004 Afcon and Cosafa championship with the under 17’s. It is the world cup qualifier that the
former Swaziland coach has never achieved.
“I have qualified for most of the competitions, this [world cup] is the rooftop. It is not the matter of do I want to or not but I am looking forward to qualifying, even if I
qualify today and die tomorrow, I would be happy because I would have reached my objections,” he said.
