Manchester united has been criticised for singing former PSG player, Edinson Cavani
United signed the Uruguayan striker on a free transfer on Monday hours before the window transfer deadline. After the official announcement made by United, fans and pundits criticized the signing, with many saying it is a panic signing.
Sky Sports Pundits Dharmesh Sheth and Kaveh Solhekol who were assessing the winners and losers of the transfer window raised their concerns and bashed united. Solhekol raised his concerns about the signing, digging deep into the striker’s recent form.
“As far as Edinson Cavani is concerned, I cannot believe it was part of Manchester United’s strategy to sign him 48 hours or before the window closed and to do the deal a few hours before the window closed. We’re talking about somebody who was a great player, no doubt about that, but he’s had a lot of injuries over the last few years, he’s played very few games for PSG,” he said.
He went on to say that, although Cavani hasn’t played for seven months, he scored seven times last season.
“They sold Romelu Lukaku 15 months ago, and 15 months later they’re replacing him with a 33-year-old free agent with his injury record, paying him something between £200-250k a week. Compare the goal scoring records. Lukaku left Manchester United last season, he scored 38 times for Inter Milan, Cavani has scored seven times for PSG,” he added.
Manchester United fans also criticised the club’s signing, Mark Goldbridge a biggest United fan who runs a Youtube channel that talks about Manchester united news, labeled the signing as a “desperate signing”.
“United has made a desperate and useless signing that i think will have no impact for United and to sign a player that has been a free agent for months now and no team wanted him shows how of a joke united is”, said Goldbrindge.
