Middendorp blames media over Nurkovic suspension ahead Sundown’s clash
Kaizer Chiefs coach, Ernest Middendorp has criticized media for singularly reporting on their player’s bookings crisis before Stellenbosch clash.
“I was so irritated by SuperSport and eNCA, before the game they all extremely highlighted how many players we had on yellow cards and danger of the whole yellow cards situation. So everyone knew that Nurkovic is on three yellow cards including the officials, he said.
Before the game Amakhosi had four vital players with three yellow cards each, Eric Mathoho, Daniel Cardoso, Lebogang Manyama, Willard Katsande and Samir Nurkovic. Yesterday’s clash against Stellenbosch saw Nurkovic picking his fourth yellow card, after an early substitution for injured Learnado Castro.
This means Nurkovic who has been involved in 4 goals scored by Amakhosi since the PSL resumption would not be available for the next game against Sundowns while Manyama and Castro are still doubted because of injuries.
It is a huge blow for Amakhosi as they are going to play a game considered to be a tittle decider without their top goal scorer. However, Lazorous Kambole’s performance yesterday as he scored his first ever goal at Chiefs might help Middendorp against Sundowns.
