Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho was sent off as Aston Villa shocked his team with a 1-0 away defeat at Villa Park on Saturday.
Mourinho had never won at Villa Park coming into this match and Villa continued to upset the Portuguese on their home turf.
Fabian Delph’s second half goal proved to be the decider as Chelsea failed to equalise and eventually lost the game.
Just after a goal, Willian was as well sent off for a second bookable offence.
The Blues continuously pressed for an equaliser as Nemanja Matic‘s goal was ruled out for hand ball.
Villa frustrated Chelsea throughout the game as Paul Lambert’s men were defending everything coming to them.
The situation got from the frying pan to fire when Ramires was also sent off deep in the injury time, that incident sparked off the sending off of Mourinho.
Chelsea went down to nine men and with no coach in their bench as “the special one” had already got his marching orders.
“It was a good, solid performance against a good team,” Mourinho told Sky Sports.
The former Real Madrid mentor also said that defensively, they were good and strong. “If I speak I’m in trouble, and I do not want to be in big trouble, and if I speak I’m accused of bringing the game into disrepute.”
Villa will now occupy the 10th place in the log with 34 points and it is a big step towards safety from relegation.
Chelsea remain on top with six points clear over second-placed Liverpool.
