MUSONA ANNOUNCES HIS RETURN WITH A GOAL

Knowledge Musona’s contribution in the final of the Gauteng Football Cup for Kaizer Chiefs was important as they demolished Bloemfontein Celtics by 4-1 at the Loftus Stadium on Sunday.
A goal was scored by the Zimbabwean international in the 67th minute as he ran onto a cutback from Tsepo Masilela to place a composed finish at the bottom corner to ensure that his side leads by two goals. Musona was substituted by Kaizer Motaung Jr due to injury.
Although the game ended early for him but he was happy with the chance he got.
“It felt good to finally run into the pitch and the reception from the fans was awesome,” he said on Soccer Laduma website.
Musona’s return was noticeable after contributing on the cup victory on his first game for Amakhosi on loan from the Bundesliga side, 1899 Hoffenheim.
“I felt that we played well but let’s admit that it is still early and we have a lot of work to do before the start of the season. It is always good to win and I was pleased to contribute to the win.
“I am going back to training to work on my sharpness. I am happy with the role the coach has given me in the team,” Musona concluded.
The 23-year-old started the game although he had a quiet first half but he had few chances. He told the club’s website: “It was nothing serious. I started cramping but I should be fine for our next assignment” as he respondend to his injury issue.
Other goals came from Willard Katsande and Simphiwe Tshabalala both in the first half. Motaung Jr announced his presence on the field by nailing the last nail on Celtics’ coffin in the dying minutes of the game to give the glamour boys a convincing title victory. Thabo Nthethe scored for Celtics.
The curtain raiser of the tournament was between University of Pretoria and Bloemfontein Celtics. Celtics won the game by 4-2 on penalties after a one all draw in the game.
