OLYMPIAKOS OUTSMARTS MAN UNITED

Goal in either half of the game from Alejandro Domiguez and Joel Campbell gave the Greek side an advantage ahead of the return in the Uefa Champions League clash at the Karaiskakis Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Olympiakos surprisingly defeated Manchester United by 2-0 in the first leg, putting one leg in the Quarter Finals.
United went to the clash haven’t lost against Olympiakos in the last four meetings of the two side.
United manager David Moyes admitted that his side failed to live up to expectations. “It’s the worst we’ve played in Europe (this season) that’s for sure,” said Moyes in the clubs website after the match. “I have to say I don’t think we were two goals worse off in the game.”
The Greek side started showing hunger of the victory early on, in the 8th minute the Argentine midfielder Perez made a run passing three United players into the box to feed Domigues but his effort came off Chris Smilling’s feet.
The Red Devils gained possession before the half hour mark but failed to create clear cut chances.
Neither side managed to break the deadlock in the half hour mark although they were both tried to penetrate each other’s defence.
Domiguez surprised visitors in the 38th minute.
Giannis Maniatis played a low shot inside the box deflected on his teammate Domiguez beating goalkeeper David De Gea in his right hand side into the back of the net.
The attacks from Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie were not a problem to the home’s back four.
In the 42nd minute Rooney delivered a cross to the box but Manolis headed it over the bar denying Van Persie the scoring opportunity.
United came back in the second half trying to equalize but the home side never allowed them to play the ball in their final third.
Poor marking from the English giants left them chasing the 2-0 score line in the 55th minute.
Joel Campbell received a ball outside the box unmarked and he played a curling low hard shot with his left foot beating De Gea near the post to the back of the net.
The second goal gave the home side confidence on the ball and they oppressed United not allowing them to play in the middle of the park.
United introduced Shinji Kagawa and Danny Welbeck trying to increase their attacking force.
Although United was struggling to create chance but in the final 15 minutes of the game RVP got a chance to pull one back.
Ashely Young played a cross to RVP but he was beaten on the ball by goalkeeper who dived and punched it away.
In the other clash Borussia Dortmund out played Zenit St Petersburg 4-2.
