AmaZulu football club will kick-off the 2014/15 Absa Premiership League campaign with their original green coloured uniforms.
The club unveiled their new Kappa home kit on Friday at Gugu Dlamini Park for the first time citizens after using light green colours last season.
Although Usuthu players saw the kit for the first time at this year’s club awards held on Thursday, they are happy with their kit.
The Durban-based side used lime green and white in the 2013/14 season and Captain Tapuwa Kapini believes that their new colours will serve as motivation.
“We are happy with the kit they brought us because it brings back a lot of memories,” Kapini said.
Usuthu spent most of their last campaign in the top eight after showing a lot of consistency in their game.
Their green kit will be used mostly in their home encounters and their white strips used for away games.
“We always wear more green than white. The shirts have shield-like designs which represent the culture of AmaZulu,” Kapini added.
Club’s Marketing Manager, Lunga Sokhela was happy with the turnout at launch.
“This is the public launch of our new jersey but we unveiled it last night at our awards dinner,” Sokhela said that the new strips will help to reduce sweat.
Sokhela they have gone back to their roots by using the original colours that they have used in the past years.
“We introduced a very unique design on it. A Zulu, Ndebele design that shows a sense of tradition and culture on our kit,” he added.
“Kappa provided us with more advanced fabric than we normally see on international clubs. This fabric is used by all Kappa sponsored clubs across the world”
Players will experience the feeling of wearing the kit on their first league clash against Ajax Cape Town at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on August 10.
